Job Description
What you will be doing:
- Provide legal counsel to clients on tax planning, estate planning, and the administration of trusts and estates.
- Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
- Advise clients on estate and gift tax issues, including strategies for minimizing taxes.
- Absorb and prepare for probate and trust administration matters, including the filing of tax returns and preparation of financial reports.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws, estate planning, and related legal developments.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals (e.g., financial planners, accountants) to provide comprehensive service to clients.
Experience you will need:
- JD from an accredited law school.
- 2+ years of experience in tax law, trust, and estate planning.
- Active New Jersey law license (required); New York license (preferred).
- LLM a plus, but not required.
- Strong understanding of estate and gift taxation, fiduciary duties, and probate processes.
- Excellent drafting, communication, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters with attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and team-oriented approach.
