ESOL Class Tutor - Help adult students learn English to get a job!

Description

Classes meet Monday-Thursday from 9:30-12:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Help teach in a vocational English and job readiness class for refugees, political asylees, and immigrants enrolled in a job search program.
• Topics include improving English and communication skills to obtain employment, job search and job retention techniques, orientation to the American workplace, financial literacy, and life skills.
• Volunteers will assist the classroom teacher by leading a small group of students while in class; working with individuals or pairs of students, and monitoring whole class activities.

Skills/Qualifications

• Confident and comfortable assisting learners who have limited formal education.
• Commitment to learning techniques for teaching and classroom management.
• Ability to work in dynamic and often changing work environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team with staff and other volunteers/interns.
• Experience teaching or tutoring ESOL (or similar), but not required
