ESL Teacher (Grades: K-4)

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, Board of Trustees policies, and administrative regulations.
• Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
• Create and maintain a system of student evaluation in accordance with state law or district adoption.
• Continuously evaluate, record, and report student progress to parents as needed.
• Teach the prescribed course of study for the subject area and grade level.
• Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare written substitute lesson plans.
• Provide varied learning experiences using multiple media and methods to motivate students and maximize instructional time.
• Identify pupil needs and collaborate with professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
• Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school.
• Participate in community outreach such as open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
• Plan and coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
• Cooperate with the principal to develop evaluation systems per district guidelines.
• Keep accurate student records and file required reports and documents.
• Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject and level.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to follow specific instructions with little or no prior experience.
• Knowledge of TEA, Board of Trustees policies, and administrative regulations for presenting subject matter.
• Ability to establish efficient classroom management procedures.
• Flexibility to cope with a rapidly changing environment.
• Willingness to stay current with professional developments.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to the job. A remote or alternate work arrangement is not an option; regular and punctual attendance at the campus is essential for all duties.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $67,500 (non‑certified) / $68,000 (certified).

Schedule

Full‑time.
