About the Role

The ESE Coordinator is a creative, dynamic, and thoughtful leader who works to fulfill the mission and vision of Naples Classical Academy. This role supports the facilitation of an inclusive model for student services based on best practices, the school’s philosophy, and the needs of all students. The ESE Coordinator directs the planning, development, organization, management, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services, including special education, student discipline, social-emotional programming, grant-funded programs, MTSS, and Section 504.

Responsibilities

  • Represent and advocate for the student body while supervising student services staff
  • Assist with managing the department budget and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Handle logistics for student activities and events
  • Support inclusive practices to ensure all learners, including those needing additional interventions, can learn alongside their peers
  • Plan budgetary resources for programs and assist with maintenance of student records
  • Establish long-term and short-term goals for implementation plans and growth
  • Build and lead a vision for Student Services and Special Education aligned with the school’s mission and values
  • Effectively communicate with parents, outside agencies, and the school community
  • Leverage and build team talents while providing coaching for growth areas
  • Evaluate personnel and assist in setting performance improvement goals
  • Support teachers to ensure instructional improvement and maintain high standards
  • Attend district, administrative, and other assigned meetings or events
  • Oversee the District’s implementation of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention programming and staff training
  • Oversee the Hospital and Homebound program
  • Ensure special education services comply with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
  • Conduct staff training on academic instruction, special education services, IEP and Transition Planning, MTSS, and policies
  • Assist building personnel with curriculum adaptation and intervention selection
  • Meet regularly with teachers to guide, coach, and problem-solve collaboratively
  • Coordinate Extended School Year needs and transition services
  • Communicate with parents regarding student needs and comply with special education protocols
  • Ensure an appropriate continuum of services and least restrictive environment placements
  • Oversee digital IEP and records storage, as well as special education assessments
  • Collaborate with the school district’s Special Education department
  • Establish goals and objectives for district-aligned Student Services
  • Address building needs and create processes to support students effectively
  • Promote a restorative and rehabilitative approach to student conduct
  • Support post-secondary success for students, both academically and social-emotionally
  • Perform other applicable duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Current Professional Educator Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Special Education, ESE, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in school administration within the ESE department, with a preference for special/exceptional services
  • Strong background in special education administration and instruction, including experience with special education processes, legal requirements, evaluations, and IEP development
  • Deep understanding of social-emotional learning competencies and experience working with social, emotional, and behavioral intervention teams
