Overview
Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a comprehensive ESOL program; training and coaching staff in the use of effective, research-based methodologies leading to English proficiency development and the academic success of ELLs participating in problem-solving programmatic determinations. Identifying staff developmental needs of the school and providing staff development and follow up coaching related to English language proficiency development as part of the problem-solving process; and expanding relationships with school and community groups to help ELL’s reach their highest potential.Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates student progress and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
- Provides an initial professional development session during pre-service week for all faculty.
- Conducts ongoing professional development as needed and directed by the principal.
- Ensures compliance with District requirements:
- Tests and documents all students as per the result of Home Language Survey within the statutory timeline.
- Completes all testing and documentation required for the beginning of the school year.
- Ensures TERMS/SIS updated by providing IMT with all required information monthly.
- Reviews and maintains Ellevation/District ELL Database updated and monitors requirements daily, including but not limited to parent communication and meetings.
- Maintains all Blue Folders updated with all the required documentation.
- Student/Parent Service:
- Provides students and parents with timely data for improvement in student achievement.
- Creates/maintains/provides ESOL flyers on recurring issues/topics for parents and/or students.
- Offers parent events as directed by the principal.
- Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
- Accepts and incorporates feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
- Actively engages in professional development opportunities.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
- Possession of or eligibility for valid teaching certification.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check and drug testing.
- Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
