Responsibilities
- Diagnostics Evaluation
- Evaluates students as Limited English Proficient (LEP) using standardized tests, observations, and consultations.
- Selects appropriate instructional materials and media.
- Develops and implements an appropriate developmental program for LEP students.
- Instructional Planning
- Plans and prepares for assigned classes.
- Groups students based on their English proficiency level.
- Communicates with other staff members during curriculum planning meetings.
- Instruction
- Instructs students according to established schedules.
- Uses appropriate instructional media and techniques to enhance oral and written communication skills.
- Affirms the progress of students in acquiring English proficiency.
- Student Management
- Maintains a conducive learning environment.
- Establishes and enforces classroom rules.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding students.
- School and Community Relations
- Strives to establish cooperative relations with parents and guardians.
- Communicates with classroom teachers and parents regarding student progress.
- Shares professional knowledge with other staff members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
- Valid teaching eligibility in ESOL.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Successful results of criminal and employment background checks.
- Previous experience in student instruction.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS).
- Strong student orientation, proactive approach, and creative thinking.
