Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an End Stream Delivery (ESD) Work Control Planner or Senior Work Control Planner to be based in Aiken, SC on the Savannah River Site (SRS). This is a multilevel posting; candidates selected will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.

About the role

The ESD Work Control Planner or Sr. Work Control Planner develops work packages for equipment and/or system modification work performed by non-union operations staff. Work packages include written step-by-step instructions, procedures, safety and testing requirements. The planner identifies potential hazards, routes work packages for approval, resolves restraints, and signs off to enable scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and issue equipment and/or system modification work packages of low to moderate complexity in accordance with applicable procedures, DOE orders, and regulations.
  • Review, understand, and interpret engineering, design, technical, and vendor prints, drawings, schematics, documents, diagrams, and specifications to ensure design information is sufficient for developing modifications for electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Conduct physical walk-downs of areas or systems to identify potential hazardous conditions or configuration anomalies.
  • Analyze time and material requirements for routine and non-routine work activity; prepare detailed material takeoffs, specifications, and labor estimates, including Davis Bacon screening.
  • Develop and issue preventive maintenance records and work packages in response to periodic and predetermined maintenance schedules.
  • Develop step-by-step instructions for work activities, identify hazards for input into the Assisted Hazard Analysis (AHA) program, and submit work packages for review/approval.
  • Perform functional and administrative activities related to work control/work package development, including permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, and database information management.
  • Interface routinely with facility staff to address questions, interpretations, or issues related to work control/work package activity.
  • Evaluate the scope of work to ensure appropriate post-maintenance testing requirements are incorporated into work packages.
  • Develop and write lockouts/tagouts for corrective, preventive, and modification work packages.
  • Prepare, review, and issue corrective maintenance work packages for structures, systems, or components that have failed or are suspected of failing.

Senior Work Control Planner Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and issue large and/or complex equipment and/or system modification work packages requiring integration and cross-teaming, including facilitating discussions with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Analyze time and material requirements for complex work activities and prepare detailed material takeoffs and labor estimates.
  • Evaluate work scope for corrective maintenance work packages to ensure clear definition and parameters.
  • Prepare complex work packages for structures, systems, or components that have failed or are in a degraded condition.
  • Develop step-by-step instructions, identify hazards for AHA input, and submit work packages for review/approval.
  • Prepare and/or review instructions for the isolation, containment, or de-energization of mechanical, electrical, chemical energy systems, or radiological sources according to established procedures and DOE orders.
  • Develop and write lockout/tagouts for corrective, preventive, and modification work packages.
  • Develop and issue preventive maintenance records and work packages, including review of component history in CMMS and applicable lessons learned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree and practical work experience in work control, E&I/mechanical maintenance, plant operations, or related areas.
  • Must possess or gain full qualified status within 6 months of entering the position.
  • Ability to obtain site planner qualification card.
  • Ability to understand various electrical and mechanical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with DOE, Federal, and state regulations, as well as existing engineering and quality assurance standards and procedures.
  • Conceptual understanding of processes, systems, and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of teams, set and meet goals and objectives, and prioritize work.
  • Working knowledge of DOE, Federal, and state regulations, as well as existing engineering and quality assurance standards and procedures.
  • Comprehensive understanding of site work control procedures, radiological control, quality assurance, configuration management, material control, and procedures for maintenance and operations.
  • Thorough understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lockout point identification.
  • Prior DOE Site work experience (preferred).
  • SRS Liquid Waste Operations facility experience (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain lockout writer qualification card.

Pay

Annual salary range: $69,120.00 – $138,048.00. Exceptions to this range may be applied on a case-by-case basis considering education, experience, and skill needs of the organization.
