About the role
The Resident Support Specialist is responsible for supervising homeless adults in a residential setting, ensuring compliance with house rules, and maintaining the security of the shelter building.
Responsibilities
- Attend and share all required Columbus House and network meetings.
- Complete all required charting, logs, incident reports; oversee intake, departures, and daily roster and programs.
- Supervise clients to ensure compliance with all house rules.
- Afford security of the shelter building.
- Adhere closely to scheduled shift start times and remain on duty until replacement has arrived.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Supervision
Direct supervision will be provided by the Manager of Shelter Operations.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and direct clients.
- Time management and organizational skills essential.
- Knowledge of all aspects of the delivery of residential services for the homeless population preferred.
- Knowledgeable of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues.
- Knowledgeable of the area network providers; computer literate.
- Culturally competent; capable of working within a team and fostering teamwork.
- Strong empathic skills.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
Pay
$18.00 per hour
Schedule
Friday– Sunday 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
