ERS - Power Study Electrical Engineer - Multiple Locations

Electrical Reliability Services, a rapidly growing third-party, NETA-accredited electrical testing company, is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to support our service offerings nationally. This position works remotely with up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Support all types of power systems, typically working with a Sr. Power Systems Engineer to define project scope.
  • Perform short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Assist other engineers with various power systems and engineering studies.
  • Gather field data and documentation as needed.
  • Support complex engineering studies including reliability, harmonics, load flow, and reliability-centered maintenance studies.
  • Assist with electrical power system documentation, including system configuration, equipment ratings, and settings.
  • Support circuit and system measurements and help write reports relating to EMF, electrical load, voltage, and power quality projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and take-offs for engineering study project proposals.
  • Gain working knowledge of computer software and data used in power systems and engineering studies; arrange training for others as needed.
  • Follow and assist in the development of policy and procedures for conducting power system and engineering studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Must have passed the FE exam or pass it within 12 months of hire date.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively with clients, field engineers, peers, and management.
  • Mature judgment and responsibility for assigned projects.
  • High degree of organizational skills and sound grounding in electrical engineering.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and night work.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Light Lifting (5 lbs. – 25 lbs.)
  • Medium Lifting (30 lbs. – 45 lbs.)
  • Heavy Lifting (over 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).

Environmental Demands

  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • High noise levels (need to shout to be heard).
  • Working around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
  • Protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors with no effective protection from weather.
  • 25% travel required.
