About the role
The Power Systems Engineer supports a range of power system and engineering studies at Electrical Reliability Services, a third-party, NETA-accredited electrical testing company. This position requires up to 25% travel and works remotely.
Responsibilities
- Perform/support a range of power system and engineering studies (all voltage levels, from basic to the most complex).
- Support all types of power systems.
- Work with a Sr. Power Systems Engineer to support project scope.
- Support short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Assist other engineers with all types of power systems and engineering studies.
- Assist in the gathering of field data and documentation as needed.
- Support the full range of complex engineering studies including reliability, harmonics, load flow, and reliability-centered maintenance studies.
- Aid in the preparation of estimates and take-offs for engineering study project proposals.
- Gain a working knowledge of computer software and data utilized in the conduct of power systems and engineering studies and arrange training for others as needed.
- Follow and assist in the development of policy and procedures for conducting power system and engineering studies.
Qualifications
- Graduate Engineer BSEE.
- Must have taken and passed the FE exam or pass the FE exam within 12 months of hire date.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively with clients, field engineers, peers, and management.
- Mature judgment, responsible for assigned projects.
- High degree of organizational skills.
- Sound grounding in electrical engineering.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, climbing (stairs, ladders), frequent driving (car, van, truck).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Valid Driver’s License.
