ER Tech I - LMH ED

Responsibilities

• Performs various functions as a member of the trauma response teams including setting up pleurovacs, setting up IVs, placing patients on monitors (ECG/NIBP/Sa-O2), delivering used trauma sets with forms to sterilization room and picking up new sets (if available).
• Performs VS and neuro checks and documents them on charts.
• Dates care provided on chart on every patient, in fast track; and all patient interactions in the main ED.
• Affords assistance to emergency physician by obtaining necessary materials for suturing, dressings, and performs basic splinting on fingers, shoulders, or ankles.
• Stocks unit supplies and reports defective equipment on every shift.
• Transports patients when necessary to med/surg, ob, or telemetry units.
• Under the guidance of an RN, PA, or MD, performs routine suture removal.
• Gives crutch walking instructions.
• Responds to patient call bells and requests for aid.
• Performs precision G-glucose checks after meeting hospital competency requirements.
• Performs CPR/chest compressions.
• Performs phlebotomy when directed after meeting hospital competency requirements.
• Performs EKGs as requested after meeting hospital competency requirements.
• Maintains performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self development as outlined in performance review.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following is required:
• EMT-B certification with 2 years of experience or 1 year ED tech experience preferred;
• One year of clinical completed and currently enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing;
• Two years recent Government Corpsmen experience;
• One year of ED tech experience.
