Roles And Responsibilities
- Interviews patients or their representative, where admission is unscheduled, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
- Provides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours.
- Distributes hospital specific literature.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School graduate or equivalent required with 1-year experience in acute hospital or ambulance setting and EMT certification preferred.
- Current BLS certification required with knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic Arrhythmia (Telemetry) certification required within 90-days of hire.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English; both verbal and written.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with patients, staff, general public and governmental agency reps.
- Basic computer skills required.
