About the role

The ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (ER Tech/HUC) role combines the essential roles of the ER Tech and HUC into one role that will function based upon operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and clinical tasks/procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Identify abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and report those findings to the Registered Nurse.
• Coordinate communication, data entry, and stocking/ordering of supplies.
• Provide clerical assistance to physicians and staff.
• Provide direction and guidance to patients, families, and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience.
• Perform tasks under the oversight of the RN in coordination with other team members.

Requirements

• High School completion or GED.
• Current Healthcare Provider or Professional rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to completion of orientation.
• Successful completion of one of the following: previous STNA or CNA training, Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
• Direct patient care experience within the last five years: performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and direct patient care activities such as bathing, turning/positioning, toileting.
• Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of at least one clinical rotation.
• EMT Basic certification.
• Special consideration: candidates with previous direct patient care experience may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon successful skills validation.

Schedule

Shift: 7AM‑7:30PM, 36 hours per week, 72 hours per pay period.
