Job Summary

The Supervisor, Emergency Department is responsible for supervising and coordinating nursing care within the Emergency Department, ensuring optimal patient flow, quality care, and adherence to policies and procedures. This role serves as a clinical resource, providing professional leadership and operational coordination to support the department's mission and vision.

Essential Functions

• Supervises and evaluates nursing care delivery in the Emergency Department, ensuring adherence to the nursing process, medical care plans, and departmental policies.
• Makes rounds on patients and staff in the Emergency Department to address concerns, provide support, and ensure high standards of care.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

• Reports problems or issues encountered during the shift to the appropriate Manager, Director, or Administrator on Call in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prioritizes data collection and documentation activities based on patient condition and departmental priorities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Supervision and Staff Management:
• Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
• Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources.
• Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
• Aids in performance evaluations and goal setting.
• Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight:
• Aids in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high quality service.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

• Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
• Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.

• Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
• Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing required
• 1-2 years of related experience in the profession required
• 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
• BLS - Basic Life Support required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred
• CEN - Certified Emergency Room Nurse preferred
• TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred
• ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification preferred
