ER Registration - PRN

About the role

You will register patients as they present to the facility for emergency care. You will work closely with the Emergency Department to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed correctly, all insurance verification and information is obtained and documented, and preauthorization of benefits is initiated. You are also responsible for entering patients into the patient accounting system completely and accurately and collecting applicable deductibles and copayments at time of service. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical.

Responsibilities

• Register patients presenting for emergency care
• Complete and verify all necessary paperwork
• Obtain and document insurance information
• Initiate preauthorization of benefits
• Enter patients into the patient accounting system accurately
• Collect deductibles and copayments at time of service
• Maintain detailed records of daily workload

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to follow directions and work according to department standards with minimal supervision
• Strong business telephone and communication skills
• Organizational skills to maintain detailed records
• Current Alabama driver's license

Qualifications

• Medical terminology knowledge is helpful
• Previous healthcare administrative experience is preferred but not required
