ER Access Specialist - Full Time

About the role

The ER Admission Specialist prepares and processes all documentation necessary for Emergency Room registration at St. James Parish Hospital in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collects complete demographic and financial information from the patient and/or family at the time of registration.
• Explains pertinent policies, rights, and consents per federal and state regulatory guidelines.
• Obtains appropriate signatures on all forms applicable to the patient type.
• Verifies patient insurance eligibility and identifies patient benefits and financial responsibility.
• Assumes responsibility for Point-of-Service Collections by collecting the patient portion that supports SJPH financial policies.
• Provides the patient with other possible sources for financial support in accordance with hospital procedures.
• Completes all fields during registration (census edits) and enters appropriate notes for communication.
• Completes the process for inpatient admissions from the ER, including admission paperwork.
