Equity Research Senior Associate - Shipping and Transportation

About the role

The Maritime Shipping Research Team at Jefferies Group LLC seeks applicants to join our team and become experts in the maritime shipping industry, its various sub-sectors, and companies listed in the public market. The ideal candidate will conduct proprietary research, analyze industry news and company filings, attend conferences, and speak with key opinion leaders. They will build and maintain financial models and industry-specific databases, closely monitor industry news and trends, write research reports for initiation of coverage, analysis of data, and industry/company news, conceive and complete differentiated project ideas, communicate with company management teams, internal sales and trading personnel, and institutional investors, and maintain relationships with industry contacts. Some travel may be required for corporate access events such as company non-deal roadshows and property tours.

Responsibilities

• Conducting proprietary research evaluating the competitive landscape
• Analyzing industry news and company filings
• Attending conferences
• Speaking with key opinion leaders
• Building and maintaining financial models and industry-specific databases
• Closely monitoring industry news and trends
• Writing research reports for initiations of coverage, analysis of data, and industry/company news

• Completing corporate access events including company non-deal roadshows and property tours (some travel may be required)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years of proven experience within equity research and/or within the maritime shipping sector
