Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial and operating models, incorporating key end-market drivers such as industrial automation, manufacturing activity, electrification, automotive production, electronics demand, and capital spending trends.
- Analyze industry developments, competitive dynamics, and technology adoption trends to identify investment opportunities and risks.
- Track company-specific catalysts through earnings reports, regulatory filings, investor communications, industry events, and primary research.
- Conduct channel checks and engage with industry participants, customers, suppliers, distributors, and subject matter experts to assess demand trends and competitive positioning.
- Author first-look earnings notes, company updates, and thematic research on topics related to automation, industrial digitization, electrification, AI-driven manufacturing, and advanced industrial technologies.
- Support initiation reports, industry primers, market-sizing exercises, and value-chain analysis to develop differentiated investment insights.
- Respond to client inquiries and collaborate closely with sales and trading to communicate investment views, sector themes, and company-specific developments.
- Build and maintain relationships with company management teams, investor relations professionals, industry experts, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience covering industrials, industrial technology, automation, semiconductors, electronics, automotive technology, or adjacent sectors across sell-side research, buy-side investing, investment banking, or consulting.
- Familiarity with industrial technologies and business models, including automation & robotics, machine vision, precision instrumentation, power electronics, photonics, thermal management, and industrial software or digitization trends.
- Strong understanding of key industrial end markets, including manufacturing, electrification, automotive, electronics, data center infrastructure, and broader capital investment cycles.
- Ability to assess technology adoption and competitive positioning, including product differentiation, market share opportunities, and long-term industry trends.
- Experience analyzing industry data and leading indicators, including industrial production, PMI, automotive production, electronics demand, and capital spending trends.
- Advanced Excel modeling skills, including operating models, multi-segment valuation frameworks, sensitivity analysis, and scenario development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable investment insights.
- Proficiency in FactSet and/or Bloomberg; experience with industry databases and channel-check research is a plus.
- Solid grounding in accounting, corporate finance, and valuation, including operating leverage, capital allocation, margin frameworks, and return analysis.
