About the role
We’re looking for a dependable Equipment Technician I to support industrial cleaning and environmental services operations at customer sites. This role operates specialized equipment, assists field crews with hands-on job tasks, and helps maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality service standards in demanding industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare water blasting, vacuum, and related equipment at customer jobsites.
- Transport equipment and materials safely to and from assigned work locations.
- Operate specialized industrial cleaning equipment including water blasters, wet/dry vacuum units, and wash trucks.
- Absorb manual labor tasks including vacuuming, hydro blasting, pipe lancing, and debris removal.
- Perform minor repairs and field maintenance on equipment and vehicles as needed.
- Maintain proper oil, fuel, and fluid levels on all assigned equipment.
- Inspect equipment before and after use to help ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Clean and prepare equipment prior to returning units to MPW branch locations.
- Follow all company safety standards, customer site procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Support emergency response operations that may require non-traditional schedules, weekends, holidays, or overnight work.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and customer representatives at job sites.
- Complete additional operational duties and assignments as directed by leadership.
Requirements
- A high school diploma, GED, vocational training, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning, equipment operation, maintenance, or related field environments preferred.
- A basic understanding of mechanical systems and heavy equipment operation strongly preferred.
- CDL preferred but not required.
- MPW equipment operation certification or the ability to successfully complete required training.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive motion during extended shifts.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, noisy industrial settings, and outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear respirators, protective clothing, and other required PPE while working around chemicals, dust, fumes, and industrial hazards.
- Ability to travel for customer projects and work schedules that may include overtime, overnight assignments, weekends, holidays, and shifts exceeding 8–12 hours.
