Reporting Location: 5900 Teague Rd.
Workdays & Hours: 6am–4:30pm
Responsibilities
- Safely operate equipment and power tools to perform skilled/manual activities and transport materials, personnel, and supplies to complete work assignments, including:
- Dump Truck
- 5/10 Ton Roller
- Asphalt Distributor Truck
- Concrete Mixer Truck
- Concrete Saw
- Flusher with tanker endorsement
- F.E. Loader
- Herbicide Spray Truck
- Lowboy
- Pothole Patcher
- Slope Mower
- Bulldozer
- Sweeper
- Bucket Truck
- Perform a variety of manual tasks such as spraying, lawn care, moving furniture, roofing, painting, digging manholes, mowing, pouring concrete or asphalt.
- Maintain, clean, and service equipment, vehicles, tools, and facilities.
- Inspect vehicles for required supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Observe and follow safety procedures and precautions at the work site.
- Investigate and respond to complaints as needed.
- Prepare and maintain reports, forms, and records.
- May act as lead of a crew, coordinating and monitoring work assignments and personnel.
Working Conditions
- Routinely requires stooping, bending, and/or lifting items weighing 30–80 pounds.
- Occasional walking on rough surfaces.
- Exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
- Periodic exposure to chemical substances and minor physical trauma such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns.
- This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier I Level.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- Six months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s driving policy.
- May require a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) based on assigned equipment.
