Join the power movement as an Equipment Specialist The Equipment Specialist is responsible for supporting implementation of production process improvements and manufacturing efficiency improvements. This role works collaboratively with the manufacturing and equipment engineering teams to identify, implement, and track the performance of equipment and process improvement activities to reduce equipment downtime and improve quality rates. The Equipment Specialist will also be the first tier of engineering support for production. The purpose of this role is to help the production team shorten the timeline to SPARC. What you'll do: Brainstorm, trial, and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce build hours & defectsWork within a multi-disciplinary team of manufacturing engineers, equipment engineers, and technicians to develop and qualify new manufacturing techniques and processes Document manufacturing systems downtime for frequency and duration. Troubleshoot and resolve downtime with a focus on continuous improvementDesign, build, and commission electromechanical equipment and tooling for process and/or efficiency improvementsWrite and update process work instructionsTroubleshoot and resolve nonconformances and production blockersPerform R&D and prototype hardware builds with minimal documentation and oversight. Use various mechanical and precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and hand toolsExecute rapid prototyping using CAD / 3D Printing / ordering machined componentsIdentify and address robot limit/excess travel issues; confidently use the pendant to safely reposition robots and make minor path adjustments with remote engineering support as neededDetermine root cause for failures and propose changes with engineers on the team What we're looking for: Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a variety of technical skills such as mechanical and electrical assemblyMinimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environmentEfficient use of hand toolsElectro-mechanical system troubleshootingProficiency with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and VisioCommitment to safety and qualityAbility to identify business/process improvement opportunities and communicate them to team and managementCan create and monitor team performance metricsDesire to work and contribute in a fast-paced, startup environment with daily changesExcellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skillsExposure to CAD software (3D or 2D electrical) Bonus points for: Associate degree in Engineering related field or higherExperience with lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma principlesExperience with manufacturing equipment developmentElectro-mechanical system designElectro-mechanical system maintenanceAble to read and redline electrical drawingsUnderstanding of good wiring practicesAbility to read schematics and troubleshoot PLC inputs/output/sensors with basic understanding of programming logicAbility to represent the Company in a positive and professional manner at all times Must-have requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionallyPerform activities such as typing, standing, stooping, and sitting, for extended periods of timeDedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenicsWillingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call At CFS, we excel in fast-paced environments, driven by our values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
