Equipment Repair Technician
About the role
An Equipment Repair Technician performs routine activities involved in preparing inbound and outbound rental units by cleaning, testing, troubleshooting, and packaging. This role involves a variety of manual tasks such as testing parts, deburring, painting, assisting in material handling or assembly operations, and supporting sales teams with field requirements, including troubleshooting and repair of new and old systems.
The hours for this position are 7:00 am–3:30 pm.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
- Visually inspect products to confirm they are undamaged after return from customers.
- Use a power washer to clean units upon their return.
- Assemble and hydro-test products for qualified areas.
- Inspect, test, and evaluate manufactured parts, performing quality-related analysis.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to keep equipment in top operational order.
- Use hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and written specifications to troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and maintain a wide variety of rental units and their controls.
- Track inventory and prepare documentation using a computer.
- Perform material handling activities such as crating, packaging, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, and moving materials using equipment like lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, and high lifts.
- Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices as necessary.
- Understand basic hydraulics and lubrication fundamentals.
- Operate reclamation and equipment components effectively with little or no supervision.
- Travel flexibly to customer locations for on-site services.
- Comply with all safety procedures, including wearing protective clothing, handling chemicals, and using safety/rescue equipment.
- Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, suppliers, customers, and peers.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, standards, and rules.
- Maintain quality assurance consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
- Ensure punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three or more years of related manufacturing experience preferred.
- One year of mechanical experience with pumps, motors, valves, and fluid dynamics is preferred.
- One year of experience within the Oil, Fuel, or Fluid Power Industries preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical concepts and usage.
- Ability to use a wide variety of power and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Ability to handle non-routine, standard projects and tasks.
- Able and willing to drive a company van and truck (non-CDL) to client sites and vendor locations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
Physical and Technical Environment
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, and stoop in a normal office environment.
- Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop areas, including walking, climbing stairs, and using elevators.
- Clean and orderly manufacturing environment with some exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Overtime required periodically to meet project deadlines.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold on a regular basis.
- Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring adherence to safety rules and standards.
