Position Summary

The Equipment Operator II operates a variety of power construction equipment within New England states and assists utility construction crew in performing their assigned duties.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
  • Operate power equipment on congested sites with multiple hazards (traffic, overhead wires, obstacles, uneven surfaces, etc.) while excavating and moving earth and other materials.
  • Exercise proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment.
  • Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
  • Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
  • Maintain trenching and shoring standards to ensure proper safety standards are met.
  • Maintain the equipment center of gravity while handling a load (avoids tipping accidents).
  • Regularly inspects and maintains equipment as required.
  • Drive machines to the workplace, lift and move materials and objects, and operate according to signals from others.
  • Dig, spread and level dirt, gravel, or sand; and mix, pour, and spreads concrete and asphalt using hand tools.
  • Perform a variety of machine and non-machine tasks such as removing forms, placing pipe in trench, jack hammering and tapping.
  • Utility Work (street and/or private for water, gas, sewer, electric, geothermal, etc. with shoring boxes) OR Site Work (building foundations, grading, cut and fills, etc.).
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required.

Hiring Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of previous related experience and education.
  • Can be qualified by an approved and competent company Operator on at least two pieces of equipment from the following (one piece per bullet): Telehandler/Compact Truck Loader/Front-End, Loader Dozer/Grader Backhoe, or Basic GPS and drawing interpretation knowledge, helpful.
  • MA Hoisting license, or other applicable state license.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Obtain and maintain all required Operator Qualifications to perform work.
  • OSHA 10 Construction Certification, or ability to obtain during pre-employment (company provided online training).
  • Obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted Driver's License.
