Equipment Operator, Senior

About the role

The Senior Equipment Operator performs advanced, skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment and vehicles used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of public infrastructure for the City of McDonough. This position is distinguished by a higher level of responsibility, operational skill, and leadership expectations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and vehicles to perform maintenance, repair, and construction tasks on public infrastructure.
• Assist in the planning and execution of projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project timelines.
• Oversee less experienced operators, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Participate in regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders regarding project progress and equipment status.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of related experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Proficiency in operating a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.

Pay

Schedule

The Senior Equipment Operator works a standard Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime as required.
