Equipment Operator

We are recruiting for an Equipment Operator at our Louisiana Station (LAS) cogeneration facility in Baton Rouge, LA. The LAS site consists of two combustion turbines and generators with associated HRSGs, four conventional steam boilers, and two steam turbines. This position will primarily serve as an auxiliary operator on shift and reports directly to the Operations Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of plant auxiliary equipment during watch.
• Train on plant systems and assist with start-up/shut-down of plant equipment.
• Perform LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) and housekeeping duties.
• Maintain safe and reliable plant operations using technical specifications and operations procedures.
• Maintain shift turnover and operating logs.
• Communicate effectively with other plant staff and collaborate as a team in troubleshooting and daily plant operations.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience working in Operations at a power plant or commensurate educational experience.
• Associate’s degree in Process Technology or a similar field of study.
• General plant knowledge and experience with industrial plant operations and/or monitoring.
• LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) experience.
• Experience with control system monitoring and exercise of stop-work authority.
• General industrial safety training.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in high heat and humidity environments.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to ascend and descend heights in excess of 100 feet.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion activities.
