Equipment Operator
Under supervision of Site Manager and Superintendent, perform a variety of tasks in support of building demolition and waste processing using heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and operate heavy equipment including excavators, bull dozers, loaders, skid steers, forklifts.
- Work in a team environment in a safe and productive manner.
- Install erosion control measures.
- Clear vegetation.
- Perform site restoration.
- Handle hazardous, non-hazardous, and radiological waste materials.
- Other project support duties as assigned.
- Work may be required in hazardous or radiological environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Responsible for observing and compplying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Requirements
- Must live within daily commute of Los Alamos, NM. Candidates living outside of a daily commute may be considered depending on experience.
- Able to work outside in all types of weather and in all types of personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with heavy equipment operation and building demolition required.
- Previous LANL or Department of Energy experience preferred.
- Requires physical strength, stamina, flexibility, and dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Preferred applicant will have current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour training; not required, will train.
- Dependable transportation and cell phone service.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 10 hours/day
- 15-minute morning/afternoon breaks
- 30-minute meal break
- Weekends and Holidays may be required

Pay
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $45 - $60 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
