Equipment Materials Instrument Technician, Sterile Processing, Baptist Downtown

Responsibilities

• Cook up activities of the sterile processing department, demonstrating thorough knowledge of sterilization processes — from cleaning and decontamination to packaging, sterilization, and distribution
• Ensure quality and contents of instrument trays meet surgical needs
• Supervise case cart, SPD, and Core operations; develop and configure instrument trays for surgical procedures
• Handle daily processing of case cart supplies and instruments
• Collaborate with OR staff regarding instruments and supplies
• Participate in departmental planning and committee and engage in ongoing education and professional organizations
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and hospital policies
• Manage vendor adherence to established practices, including regularly scheduled inventory reviews, payment practices, and contract adherence

Requirements

• 1-2 years Instrument Experience Required
• 1-2 years Surgical Instrumentation Experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - HSPA Preferred
