Equipment Manager
Job Summary
The On-site Equipment Manager will manage the warehouse and equipment operations at the on-site project level to ensure equipment is well maintained and utilized to its fullest capacity while ensuring the dispatch department is providing the field with the appropriate equipment, tools, or supplies they need to build projects safely and profitably.
Responsibilities
Owns the equipment strategy for the project, including fleet composition, sourcing model (purchase vs. rental), and lifecycle planning
Learns cost-benefit analysis for equipment decisions; evaluates utilization, total cost of ownership, and return on investment
Makes recommendations that directly impact project budgets, forecasts, and profitability
Partners with Project Leadership and Purchasing to align equipment strategy with project execution plans
Leads vendor selection and negotiations for equipment rentals, service agreements, and related contracts
Establishes and negotiates pricing, terms, and service levels with external suppliers
Exercises authority to approve vendor selections and rental agreements within established guidelines
Maintains accountability for vendor performance, cost control, and service delivery
Directs equipment allocation and movement across the project to maximize utilization and minimize downtime
Maintains equipment tracking systems to ensure accuracy of inventory, usage, and maintenance status
Pairs with Maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance strategies are executed and aligned with operational needs
Exercises independent judgment on equipment-related decisions that affect cost, schedule, and operational performance
Identifies risks and inefficiencies; implements solutions to improve equipment utilization and reduce cost exposure
Contributes to financial planning, including projections, cost tracking, and variance analysis related to equipment
Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through efficient handling of issues. Exercises good interpersonal skills by gladly assisting others to accomplish work of the organization, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties

Education
Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
5+ years of experience in equipment, rental, maintenance, or facilities management or similar
Strong background in construction equipment maintenance
Requirements
Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
