Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses hand tools to clean multiple chemical storage tanks including tanks containing liquid latex
- Applies knowledge of safe chemical handling daily throughout entire shift
- Maintains predetermined levels of compounded liquids in multiple chemical storage tanks throughout shift
- Handles approximately 20 – 400 to 600 lb. drums per shift using proper drum moving equipment
- Reads and understands written instructions (i.e. MPs, OPs, SOPs, DHRs, component tickets, and adjustments logs)
- Able to make independent decisions about tanks within the parameters of tank management procedures with the guidance of the Process Control Technicians
- Cleans and refills latex reserves
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand more than six hours of shift
- Ability to stoop, squat
- Ability to twist and reach to clean surfaces
- Ability to lift and pour contents from 5-gallon buckets
- Perform daily process adjustments to latex, tackifier, coagulant and slurry tanks
- Drains tanks and performs cleaning of the walls and bottom of tanks to flush residue through tank openings
- Scrapes and scrubs walls to remove incrustations, scale, or deposits of latex and slurry. Cleans all residues in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Departmental Cleanliness Requirements
- Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees and pumps with suction hoses. Follows all proper material handling rules for Flammable and Hazardous Materials Handling and Operations
- Adds specified chemicals to stainless steel tanks to maintain and replenish tank processing solutions
Experience/education/training/skill requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Must know how to take accurate measurements using a variety of measuring tools (test for knowledge will be given)
- Able to attend continuing education courses (pump maintenance, basic chemistry, etc.)
