Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine duties of preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair plant production equipment.
- Assist other maintenance personnel, monitor equipment performance, and perform general housekeeping of the maintenance shop and job site.
- Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment through the enforcement of housekeeping safety policies.
- Provide suggestions and feedback on improving departmental processes, performance goals, and environment.
- Operate, repair and maintain all production equipment.
- Assist with machine set-ups for production, as necessary.
- Work from prints, sketches, instructions, manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Work with little or no supervision on a day-to-day basis, utilizing own accountability and ownership of work that needs to be performed and following tasks until completed.
- Perform duties which involve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic applications.
- Fabricate, develop, assemble and/or install equipment.
- Take action on any unsafe or out-of-compliance issues.
- Report equipment problems and lockout/tagout situations to the Supervisor when required according to policy.
- Account for tasks and parts usages in MP2.
- Monitor equipment performance and minimize unscheduled downtime.
- Perform other related and similar duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Have good oral and written communication skills.
- Successfully pass mechanical aptitude exams.
- Successfully complete and pass required lift truck operation tests and training and obtain and maintain appropriate lift truck licensing.
- Able to pay close attention to detail and follow instructions/procedures to meet quality standards.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks (including physical requirements as described below) on a consistent basis.
- Maintain consistent and acceptable attendance.
- Available to work overtime as needed, including weekend work.
- Able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Able to abide by all safety policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines in order prevent and reduce exposure to accidents and injuries.
- Able to meet all Mechanic I qualifications; able to use all shop equipment, including mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws and welders and able to troubleshoot electrical problems.
- Have prior mechanical and manufacturing experience.
- This position requires at least five years of related experience.
- Possess sufficient keyboard and PC literacy to accurately complete work orders in MP2.

Employment Information
- This is a second shift position from 2PM-10PM Monday-Friday.
- The hiring range for this position in Itasca is $25-32 per hour, with a $0.60 Shift Differential for a 2nd shift position.
