Equine Sales Representative

About the Role

Reporting to the Equine Business Unit Manager, this position is primarily responsible for working a defined geographical territory and/or strategic equine accounts to represent and sell Bimeda’s complete equine-focused product line. Products include anti-inflammatories/pain management, anti-parasitics, joint & cartilage support, gastrointestinal (EGUS) treatments, sedatives/calming, and hormone/reproduction products. The Territory Manager will broaden Bimeda’s customer base, increase annual product sales, and strengthen customer relationships and brand presence in the marketplace. This role collaborates with the Bimeda Sales and Marketing Team to review and communicate sales performance, market intelligence, sales projections, and strategies for Bimeda portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships and influence large equine operations (breeding farms, training facilities, veterinary hospitals, etc.) at all decision-making levels to support Bimeda products.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all sales activities within the defined territory, including sales to resellers or equine customers.
  • Conduct scheduled sales calls on current customers to grow business and optimize pre-call planning to meet agreed-upon objectives efficiently.
  • Use SalesForce CRM to communicate projects and sales effectively and follow up promptly with all customer requests and inquiries.
  • Communicate routinely with the VP of Equine and collaborate with key external stakeholders, including farm/barn managers, veterinarians, nutritionists, distributor sales reps, and branch managers.
  • Sell Bimeda-branded or private-label products through distribution channels, focusing on flagship equine products such as Gastrobim™ (EGUS treatment), Polyglycan® joint therapy, Equimax®, and Bimectin® parasiticides.
  • Engage with key decision-makers in large equine operations and within Bimeda’s distribution network to maximize sales, including travel and relationship management with distributor sales representatives and regional branches.
  • Develop and communicate an effective travel plan for the territory to support Bimeda product sales.
  • Provide competitive intelligence via SalesForce as directed by the VP of Equine and respond to marketing department requests for information.
  • Attend tradeshows, equine events, and manage endorsee relationships to support Bimeda product sales.
  • Support and communicate Bimeda marketing programs to veterinarians, veterinary practice staff, distribution partners, and equine owners/operators.
  • Provide monthly updates on sales trends and challenges.
  • Work with management to create territory sales and cost budgets, monitor sales performance and budget ratios using SalesForce, and manage territory expenses.
  • Monitor product move-out using FTG or Animalytix sales reports.
  • Participate in conference calls, interact routinely with the Regional Sales Manager/Equine Business Unit Manager, and collaborate with the Technical Services Department and consumer cattle sales team as needed.
  • Attend regional and national meetings and travel with Bimeda management and Technical Services as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field (required).

Experience

  • Essential:
    • Multiple years of animal health industry experience.
    • Pharmaceutical or animal health product sales experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Accomplished sales professional with an excellent reputation in the equine industry.
    • Strong knowledge and relationships in the equine industry.
    • Proven track record in selling products to large equine operations.
    • Experience selling equine pain management, anti-inflammatory, and joint/cartilage therapy products.
    • Experience with Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) management and treatment options.
    • Basic understanding of general animal health products (anti-parasitics, sedatives, hormone/reproduction, etc.).
  • Desirable:
    • Experience selling joint/cartilage therapy, gastrointestinal, or pain management products.
    • Broad understanding of animal health pharmaceuticals and biologics.
    • Proven relationships with large equine operation management and ownership.
    • Experience with large equine operations' use of animal health products.
