About the role
The EPS Operator will be trained in all phases of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam protective packaging materials.
Responsibilities
- Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures.
- Take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards.
- Take an active role in caring for the equipment to prevent breakdowns and defects, and help increase overall equipment efficiency through 5S, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and other Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Read and understand all press systems, including the sequence of machinery, injection, and valve operation.
- Adjust the press to maintain a quality product and understand PLC output steps on all machines.
- Adjust and operate the pre-expander to maintain the correct density of the product by monitoring time and temperature of raw materials.
- Keep accurate density records of pre-expanded materials and input data into the PC database as required.
- Monitor the scheduling of mold changeovers to meet customer needs using SAP to identify foam requirements from unit numbers.
- Develop daily schedules and perform daily inventory.
- Complete forklift/clamp truck checklists and perform 6S audits.
- Perform diversified operations to meet satisfactory performance requirements, including inspecting products for conformity to quality standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping and perform other assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
- Work overtime as requested and posted by management.
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to read instructions in manuals, drawings, schematics, and follow them with precision.
- Good understanding of quality control principles.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
