Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Epidemiologist / Public Health Data Analyst to support healthcare surveillance, health system planning, emergency preparedness, and data-driven public health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct epidemiologic surveillance and analyze healthcare utilization, capacity, workforce, and service delivery data.
  • Monitor syndromic surveillance and near real-time data sources to identify emerging health system trends.
  • Link, clean, transform, and analyze multiple state and federal datasets.
  • Use SAS, SQL, Snowflake, or similar data analytics tools for data management and statistical analysis.
  • Develop dashboards, maps, reports, and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS, and related technologies.
  • Support onboarding of healthcare facilities to the Automated Capacity Occupancy Reporting Network (ACORN).
  • Provide technical assistance to healthcare facilities for real-time capacity data submission.
  • Perform data quality reviews and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, validity, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Evaluate surveillance systems and recommend improvements to data collection and reporting processes.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, situational awareness, and public health response activities.
  • Prepare analytical reports, data briefs, presentations, and policy recommendations for leadership and public health partners.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Support health system planning, monitoring, and resilience initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in epidemiology, public health analytics, healthcare data analysis, biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and epidemiologic methods.
  • Experience working with large and complex healthcare or public health datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and/or SAS.
  • Experience cleaning, joining, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources.
  • Strong data visualization and dashboard development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with SAS and SQL.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, and/or ArcGIS.
  • Experience with Snowflake or cloud-based data platforms.
  • Knowledge of public health surveillance and healthcare data systems.
  • Experience with syndromic surveillance or near real-time health data.
  • Knowledge of healthcare capacity and utilization data.
  • Experience supporting emergency preparedness or public health response programs.
  • Experience working with state or federal healthcare/public health agencies.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement experience.
