About the role

The Epic PACE Application Specialist is responsible for supporting, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining outpatient workflows and modules of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This role bridges PACE operations and information technology (IT), and will translate user workflows into system build and configurations. The Epic PACE Application Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for PACE workflows. This role is responsible for providing support, delivering training, and promoting user adoption, while driving system enhancements that align with organizational goals. The position also actively participates in system upgrades and updates to ensure ongoing optimization.

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimize Epic PACE workflows, including charting, order sets, and templates.
• Collaborate with other Epic modules (e.g., MyChart) to ensure integration and consistent workflows.
• Participate in full project lifecycle: gathering, designing, building, testing (unit, system, integration), go live, and post go live support.
• Configure templates, order sets, decision support tools, rules, alerts, and other functional components.
• Configure, test, and validate system.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for participant care and services workflows and support processes, focusing on Epic build and training.
• Provide guidance and build expertise to support workflow redesign efforts, but leave ongoing operational monitoring and maintenance to the respective department leads.
• Partner with operational leaders to analyze existing workflows, surface bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and recommend system-based solutions or optimizations.
• Act as a point of escalation for PACE system related issues, respond to tickets, triage, and resolve errors or workflow breaks.
• Provide on-site/virtual support during go-live to drive optimization after implementation.
• Provide support for after-hours or high-severity incidents.
• Test and validate software updates, patches, and new versions to ensure backward compatibility and minimal disruption.
• Create and maintain documentation (build guides, user manuals, and best practices).
• Deliver training to interdisciplinary team members and support staff.
• Assist with change management to communicate system changes, gather feedback, and support adoption.
• Participate in or lead projects involving system enhancements, upgrades, or module expansions.
• Assist with requirements gathering, impact analysis, technical design, testing, and go-live planning.
• Coordinate with other IT, clinical, and vendor teams for dependencies.
• Maintain required Epic certifications and stay current with Epic updates and best practices.
• Evaluate new Epic features, assess feasibility for adoption, and support version upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, health information management, healthcare administration, or related field, preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience working with Epic PACE modules or other EHR clinical systems including charting, ordering, documentation, or scheduling.
• Preferred: Clinical background as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or a licensed practical nurse.
• Experience in at least one full Epic implementation lifecycle.
• Experience leading or mentoring others.
• Experience with change management, governance, testing strategies/validations, and workflow redesigns.
• Project management experience.
• Clinical experience in a PACE or value-based care environment.
• Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.

Pay

$66,489 – $89,355 (commensurate with years of experience)
