Position Summary
The Epic Operational Database Administrator participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications and databases using various relational databases, client/server, and object-oriented tools and programming languages. The role involves reviewing database designs, ensuring consistency of standards, procedures, and content, and assembling, manipulating, analyzing, and disseminating data.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and updates large databases.
- Ensures consistency of standards, procedures, and content.
- Analyzes and disseminates data.
- Plans and coordinates database design and development.
- Manages ODB environments for production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
- Installs and maintains administrative and monitoring tools for high levels of availability and performance of the Epic system.
- Monitors system performance and troubleshoots issues.
- Manages logins for different types of access.
- Applies IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
- Configures and maintains environment copies according to the environment strategy.
- Responds to emergency and after-hours issues.
- Engages in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
- Collaborates with technical teams and Epic to ensure proactive support.
- Writes and maintains scripts to improve system management tasks.
- Participates in change control processes for all planned application and technical activities.
- Maintains and tests processes related to business continuity.
- Works in an on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information science, business, or related field.
- Experience: Certification in Operational Database Administration.
- Skills: Strong Unix skills, understanding of operating system concepts, knowledge of command shells and utilities, ability to create, understand, and follow processes for critical maintenance procedures.
