Epic Application Coord - HIM
About the role
The Application Coordinator is responsible for the design, build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of clinical and/or revenue cycle applications. This role requires obtaining the appropriate Epic certification and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the software functionality, as well as acquiring knowledge of clinical or revenue cycle workflows. The position involves periodic on-call duty (24/7) to provide tier III level support for Epic applications and implementing configuration changes approved by the appropriate committee. Application Coordinators collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design future-state workflows and build systems to support them, while also establishing and maintaining critical business relationships with users of the Epic application suite.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, validate, and provide ongoing support for clinical and/or revenue cycle applications.
- Obtain and maintain appropriate Epic certification and in-depth knowledge of software functionality.
- Acquire knowledge of clinical or revenue cycle workflows to be implemented in the system.
- Provide tier III level support for Epic applications on a 24/7 on-call basis.
- Implement configuration changes to the Epic system as approved by the appropriate committee.
- Collaborate with clinical and financial department representatives to design future-state workflows and build systems to support them.
- Work across interdisciplinary teams to achieve goals collaboratively.
- Act as a representative of the Information Services team, establishing and maintaining critical business relationships with users of the Epic application suite.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or current clinical licensure in nursing, radiology, pharmacy, respiratory, or related field OR four (4) years of experience in business administration, information technology, science, healthcare, or a related field.
- 3 years of healthcare or IT experience, including one (1) year of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) application experience OR, in lieu of degree or clinical licensure, seven (7) years of healthcare or IT experience, including one (1) year of EMR application experience.
- Current Epic certification OR active Epic proficiency achieved with a score of 90.
Preferred: 1 year of experience working directly with Epic applications in a clinical or IS field relevant to the position.
