About the role
Tetra Tech is adding an Environmental Technician with interest in landfill gas operations, maintenance, and oversight. This role will be based in and around project sites in Southern Michigan, Northwestern Ohio, and the Greater Midwest Area.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety policies and programs, and practice safe working procedures.
- Train and safety equipment will be provided.
- Apply critical thinking and problem solving of complex field issues and, under general supervision, provide a proactive approach to client needs and urgent issues.
- May cross-train to perform monitoring, tuning, and maintenance of landfill gas collectors and other infrastructure.
- Perform data collection and documentation on a daily basis.
- Submit reports using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and internal company apps.
- Work independently to apply general principles to various situations.
- Ability to build and retain mutual relationships with clients.
Requirements
- High School diploma required. 1-3 years’ experience in environmental services or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude and understanding of field equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from peers and supervisors.
- Good overall communication skills.
- Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and other software as necessary to perform job functions.
- Remote location in the upper Midwest; based out of Michigan is preferred.
- Required to work the same schedule as contractor (various hours up to 60+ hours a week).
Qualifications
- Associates degree in related field preferred.
- Licensed professional land surveyor in Michigan is a plus but not required.
