About the role
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Technician for our Borger, Texas field office. This field-based role supports environmental site assessment, investigation, and remediation activities by conducting inspection, sampling, and contractor oversight tasks.
Responsibilities
- Conducting routine fieldwork including sampling of environmental media (e.g., soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and air)
- Performing environmental site assessments/inspections and basic calculations related to site investigation and remediation activities
- Managing field sample chain-of-custody documentation, packaging, and shipping to laboratories
- Performing operation and maintenance (O&M) on remediation systems
- Overseeing contractor field tasks related to site investigation and remediation activities
- Supporting the coordination of field activities, including utility locating, surveying, and oversight of investigation and remediation projects under the direction and guidance of project managers
- Documenting field activities accurately and maintaining detailed, organized field notes in accordance with project requirements
- Communicating effectively with project managers and team members to provide timely updates on field progress, and safety observations
- BUILDING EXPERIENCE TOWARD AN ASSOCIATE SAFETY PROFESSIONAL (ASP) CERTIFICATION
Qualifications
- High School diploma AND a minimum 4 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of education and experience
- A valid driver's license
- Will conduct a motor vehicle records check for the successful candidate
- Must pass a drug assessment and background check
- US Citizen/US Permanent Resident
- Must complete the following (when appropriate): 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, 30-hour OSHA Supervisor training, First Aid/CPR training, and AECOM specific training
- Must obtain the Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) and the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification
- Must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel
