About the Role
The Environmental Technician supports the implementation of Idahoan Foods' environmental and sustainability programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves environmental sampling, monitoring, and training key personnel to engage in the mission of the EHS Department.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve sampling plans related to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Assist with operational and compliance activities, inspections, and reporting for environmental programs, including wastewater, drinking water, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, and stormwater management.
- Prepare draft regulatory reports.
- Ensure timely collection and analysis of environmental samples.
- Prepare and deliver awareness training to Idahoan team members.
- Maintain all environmental data with strict quality control measures to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare monthly irrigation schedules for Idahoan land application sites.
- Participate in and champion company safety programs.
- Represent Idahoan Foods professionally to external stakeholders.
- Assist with environmental capital projects to improve environmental performance and operations.
- Support operational improvements and sustainability initiatives across the company.
- Foster a culture that respects and understands environmental responsibilities.
Requirements
- Degree in Earth Sciences, Biology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate math skills, including proficiency in algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.
- Preferred certifications: State wastewater treatment, land application, and/or drinking water operator license, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and enforce regulatory requirements.
- High degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions with minimal direction.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to change productively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including advanced Excel functions (PivotTables, VLOOKUP).
- Ability to organize and maintain digital files in accordance with established standards.
Work Environment
The position is located in a manufacturing or farm environment with moderate noise levels. It requires sitting at a desk for extended periods and walking between locations. The role involves exposure to heat and cold for environmental sample collection, as well as travel for facility reviews and professional development.
