Environmental Technician I

About the Role

This full-time Environmental Technician position involves field-based work, including air monitoring activities, facility inspections, and maintenance of monitoring systems. The role requires on-call availability and the ability to respond to calls and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to and work at client facilities.
  • Obtain permits at client facilities.
  • Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and toolbox meetings.
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and sampling.
  • Maintain and upkeep air monitoring equipment.
  • Assist with the construction, operation, and maintenance of stationary continuous emissions monitoring systems and mobile ambient air monitoring stations.
  • Generate accurate and complete documentation of field activities.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements set forth by Providence and its clients.
  • Respond to company and client calls during extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and work overtime when necessary.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in an industrial setting OR a two-year technical degree (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • TWIC Card.
  • Knowledge of common engineering concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to read, interpret, create, and assemble from drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and sketches.
  • Strong electro/mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other technical programs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice, with some overnight travel.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods.
