Responsibilities
- Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
- Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with EPA requirements.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
- Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and labeling drums.
- Absorbents on liquids, sweep or vacuum solids, and containerize cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
- Inspect waste storage areas and emergency equipment, take corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Invent and inspect waste spill kits.
- Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plant’s recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
- Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
- Operate a burden carrier.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience in waste management.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift experience.
