Compensation range is $20 to $22 per hour. We are partnering with our client to find an Environmental Technician to work out of the Seatac area.

About the role

You will be working with both hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste facility, responsible for loading, unloading, processing, and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
  • Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
  • Utilize barcode system equipment to document inventory activities
  • Review laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
  • Use Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites
  • Utilize proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks
  • Process, including some loading and unloading, solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations
  • Operate a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
  • Direct liquid waste through a pump system to tanks for storage
  • Perform basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
  • Operate a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other material
  • Maintain operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition
  • Utilize knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations
  • Utilize coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection, and a respirator
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1+ years of related experience (required)
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred, but we will help you obtain it)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering (preferred)

Pay

$20 to $22 per hour
