Full-time position, 80 hours per pay period within the Environmental Services department.
Requirements
- No formal education necessary.
- Previous experience in hospital or hotel housekeeping preferred.
- Must become competent in essential functions within 2 to 3 months.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively.
- Ability to count and follow simple instructions.
- Sufficient strength to push carts and lift bulky items.

- Laundry carts
- Hot stamper
- Mop, broom, dust pan
- Chemical/detergent dispensers
- Commercial carpet vacuum and sweeper
- Carpet extractors
- Floor scrubbers/buffers
Working Conditions
- Extensive and constant physical effort, including continuous standing, stooping, pushing, and walking.
- Frequent lifting of light to moderate objects (most under 40 pounds).
- Ability to perform simple manipulative skills such as folding linens, opening trash bags, and filling chemical containers.
- Maintain attention span for tasks lasting 20-30 minutes at a time.
- Works in all areas of Hamilton Memorial Hospital District, including clinics and the Senior Enrichment Center.
- Outdoor work may be required.
- Exposure to hazardous wastes, infectious diseases, housekeeping chemicals, soiled linen, lint, and potentially infectious body fluids.
- Special precautions required when handling blood or other infectious materials.
Responsibilities
- Clean all floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces in the Hospital District.
- Take out trash and biohazard trash; operate the compactor.
- Operate all environmental services equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean environmental services equipment at the end of every shift.
- Complete department records as required by management.
- Attend in-services and meetings as required.
- Assist in passing meal trays as needed.
- Stock areas with clean linens and transport dirty linen to bins.
- Perform one-on-one psychiatric sitter duties when needed.
- Participate in QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) efforts.
- Follow established policies and procedures to support QAPI and patient safety.
- Support the Just Culture concept to improve patient safety.
Pay
$15.30–$20.23 per hour.
