Environmental Technician
Job Overview
APTIM has openings in the Irvine, CA area for an Environmental Technician to work in a team performing solid waste composition assessments of client waste containers ranging from 3 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. Assessments typically last 1-2 days with team sizes from 2 to 5 depending on container size. Duties include sorting waste using hand tools, weighing, and inventorying items for data analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Sort solid waste into material categories including plastics, paper, cardboard, food waste, regulated waste, etc.
- Use hand tools to sort waste and lift items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Willingness to travel to transfer stations, landfills, and client sites across the continental US, with primary focus in the Midwest.
Basic Qualifications
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work well in a team, positive attitude, and willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Hazardous Waste/Solid Waste Field
- 40-hour Hazwoper trained

Pay Range
A good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $23 per hour. Compensation depends on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
