About the role
Aecon is seeking an Environmental Technician to support their Savannah River project site. Reporting to the EH&S Director, the Environmental Technician will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management programs and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of processes for environmental management, waste management, and chemical management
- Prepare documentation and reports including environmental performance reports, information and tracking reports, and environment condition reports
- Perform field inspections and surveys of environmental related activities to observe and document environmental hazards or regulatory violations
- Create sampling and analysis plans in accordance with environmental management processes
- Participate in the preparation, monitoring, and implementation of corrective action plans as necessary
- Provide guidance and coach/mentor project management and staff in the execution of field activities related to the Environmental Management System
- Participate in environmental audits, assessments, and inspections conducted by others
- Provide information as necessary to project managers in support of environmental awareness and regarding potential environmental risks and impacts
- Maintain awareness of environmental legal requirements and amendments applicable to the projects
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Biology/Geoscience is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience working in the environmental management field. Familiar with applicable Federal/state EPA requirements
- Experience working in a nuclear and/or construction environment is an asset
- Comprehensive understanding of industry standard environmental site assessment practices and processes
- Must have demonstrable experience developing and managing environmental management programs in accordance with ISO requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment
Qualifications
- This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 annually.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.
