Environmental Specialist

About the Role

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for the Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. You will support clients on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs and projects, utilizing state and federal regulations. This role serves leading organizations in the higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing sectors. The position reports to the Operations Manager and is based at client locations in the Thousand Oaks, San Fernando Valley, and Northern Los Angeles areas.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations as well as Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices.
• Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal/state waste documents and managing the paperwork for the material.
• Safely handle hazardous waste containers on client sites, as well as load/unload waste from vehicles.
• Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.
• Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by providing outstanding support and innovative solutions to clients.
• Develop a high-level of state and federal regulatory expertise to ensure client compliance needs are met (e.g., RCRA, DOT, and OSHA).
• Conduct spill response measures, including assessment of spills and cleanup efforts.
• Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team (optional).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry, or relevant military experience.
• Ability to work as a member of a team as well as individually.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Skilled in building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to work overtime on a regular basis.
• Willingness to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday).
• Ability to complete a 2 to 3 year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management.
• Frequent handling of hazardous chemicals and biological waste; must be able to put on and take off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
• Must be able to report to the Santa Fe Springs office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts if opting into Emergency Response responsibilities.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Reliable form of transportation.
• Willingness to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
• Participation in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) upon employment.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior relevant industry experience.
• Prior successful experience in a customer service role.
• Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification.
• Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Willingness to travel to support other regions.

Pay

Pay Range: $24 USD per hour.
