Join our team at Springfield Memorial Hospital as an Environmental Services Technician and play an essential part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Pay

USD $15.75/Hr. – Max USD $22.52/Hr.

Schedule

03:00pm – 11:30pm (with every other weekend commitment).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lift objects and climb ladders.
  • Moderate physical effort required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how soiling occurs and the difference between soluble and insoluble soils, including the cleaning process involved.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized cleaning cart and Environmental Services closet per department policy.
  • Know the specific use of Environmental Services chemicals and their dilution rates.
  • Perform dust mopping and wet/microfiber mopping on hard surface floors.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas using an upright vacuum cleaner.
  • Handle and dispose of all waste streams, including regulated waste in the hospital.
  • Clean and handle intravenous pumps (IV or Sigma Smart Pumps).
  • Clean in-patient rooms daily.
  • Implement A.I.D.E.T. (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and Greet and Feet techniques, understanding their impact on patient surveys.
  • Perform discharge and transfer cleaning in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
  • Follow isolation cleaning procedures, using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Clean offices, conference rooms, and arrange furniture.
  • Perform cleaning procedures for laboratory settings.
  • Routinely clean public and non-public restrooms and locker rooms.
  • Conduct between-case and terminal cleaning in special procedure areas.
  • Clean the pharmacy clean (IV) room.
  • Report facility repair issues (e.g., wall patching, ceiling tiles, leaks) to leadership and submit work orders as needed.
  • Maintain all equipment (cleaning carts, vacuums, pagers) following department guidelines.
  • Perform general maintenance of hard and soft flooring.
  • Adhere to safety procedures with chemicals and equipment use; report discrepancies.
  • Report injuries to leadership and submit appropriate injury reports.
  • Complete all duties proficiently and within designated time frames.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and complete annual learning modules on time.
  • Familiarize with departmental policies and procedures, monitoring communication boards.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
