About the role

The Environmental Services Technician I at UVM Health - Porter Medical Center is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role supports patient care by adhering to infection control standards, OSHA regulations, and departmental policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and terminal cleaning of patient and public areas
• Follow infection control and isolation procedures
• Remove regular and contaminated waste safely
• Maintain supplies, carts, and housekeeping equipment daily
• Replenish stock across patient care and common areas
• Follow daily work schedules, procedures, and time standards
• Complete work logs documenting tasks and completion times
• Support floor care processes (buffing, scrubbing, refinishing)
• Assist with laundry, linens, curtain changes, and room setups
• Flex across departments and shifts as needed

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and follow written procedures
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and positive public relations
