Major Responsibilities
- Clean/disinfect assigned area(s) with appropriate cleaning solutions and following schedules.
- Operate various equipment and use chemicals and solutions following department policy.
- Keep work areas clean and safe.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction through AIDET and conflict resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality and present department positively.
- Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds and rooms upon patient discharge.
- Clean and sanitize entire room and washroom upon patient discharge.
- Utilize appropriate germicide in disinfecting rooms.
- Select and transport cleaning materials and supplies.
- Clean all assigned areas utilizing established department procedures.
- Replenish supplies and collect waste.
- Sanitize garbage cans.
- Follow Standard (Universal) Precautions and departmental policies.
- Place soiled linen in chutes and ensure a safe, clean environment.
- Prepare detergents, germicidal solutions, and other cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
- Sweep, dust mop, and spot clean floor areas and carpets.
- Shampoo furniture, carpets, and rugs.
- Identify types of soiled or spotted areas and utilize proper solutions.
- Handle chemicals and solutions following departmental policies.
- Ensure all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers.
- Adhere to safety regulations.
- Move equipment and furniture for cleaning, rearrangement, and relocation.
- Arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Notify supervisor of equipment needing repair.
- Report safety hazards.
- Return unused supplies to closet and ensure all items are replaced in an orderly manner.
- Collect and distribute soiled and/or clean linens.
- Collect trash and/or waste from all areas of the hospital.
- Collect hazardous and medical waste according to procedures established by the Infection Control Committee.
- Sanitize all garbage/waste disposal containers.
- Separate regular and recycle trash according to procedure.
- Attend mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and inservices.
- Complete annual CBT's and follow departmental goals and objectives.
- Seek education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs.
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality.
- Plan for special days off in advance and submit written requests for time off.
- Provide adequate notice for absences and call in two hours before the beginning of shift.
Education/Experience Required
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
- Basic computer skills preferred
