Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean and safe environment to support delivery of high quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedure and safety and infection control standards. The Environmental Services Technician I remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs as they arise and participates in ongoing professional development.

Job Functions

• Performs daily cleaning of assigned areas (patient rooms, bathrooms, emptying and cleaning trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, inspection and cleaning of empty patient rooms daily, washing and disinfecting hospital walls and ceilings) according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
• Performs cleaning duties (including special cleaning and other area assignments) according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
• Adheres to general safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or GED equivalent.
• Required Licenses and Certifications: Previous experience in the hospital setting.
• Preferred Skills: Knowledge Skills and Abilities including reading, writing, and communicating both verbally and in writing; good communication skills to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental employees, patients and their family members, physicians, and the public; extensive contact with inter and intra departmental personnel, patients and their family members, physicians, and public; good communication skills and reflecting a positive, caring attitude toward both staff and the public.
